Good morning Grade 8,
We have finished the novel Daniel's Story. Did you know the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum commissioned Carol Matas to write this novel. They wanted children to see the horrors of the Holocaust from another child's eyes. They have a permanent display at the museum, showing different aspects of Daniel's journey. Please go to the site and respond with your reactions. Is the display similar to what you imagined as you read the novel? Do you think this would be a valuable experience for young people? It is alot different then I imagined it! I thought it would be alot more dark and damp looking. I thought it was alot more neat and tidy then it accually would be. They all had lice and were very sick. I doubt they had time to clean up. I think this is not a valuable thing for children to see because they would misinterprate it.
