This afternoon we watched the video A Class Divided. What were your reactions to the video?
Why were the children so quick to treat their friends like second-class citizens? How did the children act when they were on the bottom? What happened to their test scores when they were on the bottom? In the prison workshop, how did the blue-eyed people feel? Why did the majority of the blue-eyed people do nothing to help their fellow blue-eyed friends? What real-life similarities did you see after watching this experiment? Do you feel this experiment would be a useful teaching tool? What part of the video touched you the most?

I thought a class divided was a really great video. The thought that kept coming through my head was "It's just a experiment!!!!" Everyone was turning on each other for the stupidest things! As soon as they were on top it was like cloud nine and the very next day it was like thier wort day ever. Their test marks were SUPERB when they were the best people in class and....well... they were horrible when they were treated horrible. It's interesting how they adults took it worse than the children. Some of them were very touchy on their respect. The one lady was so deeply envolved in everything that she was getting worked up! I WAS JUST A GAME! She was taking it worse than the grade 3's!!!! I can't blame the rest of the blue-eyed people for not standing up, because they did not want to get yelled at like the other "lady". This relates to real life because in the Holocaust the Jews were treated WORSE than this!!! You can't even begin to imagine how they got picked on. If they kids couldent work well by just having a couple of them having differnt coloured eyes, think how the Jews would'nt be able to do all the strenuous work they had to do, and for their enemies!! This is a very excellent teaching method and ALL teachers should show their student this. If only they had this during WWII! I was affected most by the HUGE black cloud floating over all the people who were discriminated against. STOP RASISUM!
